Date : 1-3 July 2011
Well, to start things off, we were actually informed about this MINI KUD 2011 just a week before the event. We didn’t really expect it to be big or “grand” that it requires thorough preparation and planning (can’t really blame us on that). So a very simple planning was made and the so-called preparation was done just a few hours before we headed to Kuala Pilah.
We were the first one from our company arriving to the Kuala Pilah Mini Stadium to see how our booth looked like and to arrange things accordingly. Surprisingly, it quite exceeded our expectations in a way that we never thought that there would be approximately a hundred booths or two. Whilst looking for the very booth, we saw some quite interesting booths from…ermm..probably more successful entrepreneurs than us? (LOL!). They looked very much prepared and everything and we were like “Okayy, we probably should have been more serious about this”. But, never mind. Life had to go on and finally we found our booth where we saw Kak Zuraini and her partner (they were actually representing their company Impian Suri as well as USAHANITA Kuala Pilah) smiling at us welcoming us in.
Seriously we were freakin’ unprepared! It’s simply because we did not take this so seriously. Luckily we have brought some flyers and buntings to decorate (rolling eyes) our table. Thank God the organizer provided us with a nice red table cloth (rolling eyes again). At least, there was something than nothing to make our booth look nice no?
The first half of the day was not very exciting I must say because it was quite a hot day and henceforth the turnouts were very low. So obviously, there was not much sale going on. Later on the evening, we left the carnival with a lil bit of disappointment because we thought that our participation this time would not give us any ROI at all. But we were wrong! Tahsin and Arif reported that there were so many people that Friday evening and the products that we brought were not enough. This continued until Saturday where we received a lot of visitors and guess what! We sold a lot! We were very energetic selling and promoting our products. We realized that of the three products we brought (namely Murtabak, Risolle and Rolls), Risolle was the most sought after product. It’s probably because it is something that most people never knew or heard of before, unlike Murtabak and Rolls, apart from it being delicious and tasty (duhh!).
As what we have expected, Sunday was a bit slow and not as hectic as the day before. Perhaps people prefer to stay at home on Sundays, who knows. The day was ended at 4 o’clock or so where we started packing up things to go back to Seremban. All in all, we feel quite satisfied with the reception and response given by our customers about our products. We’re also grateful to be given the chance to participate in this successful event (credit to Kak Zuraini & Usahanita) as we have met a few other entrepreneurs like us and learned a lot from them. It was a good platform to promote our products and also for networking purposes. Hopefully we will be able to participate in similar events in the near future and hopefully by then we have grown bigger! Pics will be upload later!
